Description: ABSTRACT This article aims to understand the teaching of philosophy as emancipation. To this end, I will use the categories of embrutecimento and emancipation developed by the French philosopher Jacques Rancière in his book “The Ignorant Master: Five Lessons on Intellectual Emancipation”, in keeping with the concept of philosophy, promoted by philosophers Deleuze and Guattari. Indeed, the research has as its central objective, to analyze the limits and possibilities of the teaching of philosophy as intellectual emancipation. The starting point, are the concepts of embrutecimento and emancipation developed by Rancière, we propose to investigate the teaching of philosophy from these categories / concepts, thus debating methodologies, uses of didactic materials, resources among others. The concepts of emancipation and embrutecimento developed by Jacques Rancière will be the guiding thread of this investigation. Rancière (2011) bases the concept of emancipation on the principle of equality of intelligences, is the recognition of oneself, the recognition of the innate ability to reason and learn. Rancière's reflection is very close to what Deleuze and Guattari understand of philosophy.
