Turismo acessível em Tutóia, Maranhão: desafios e oportunidades para pessoas cadeirantes

Abstract

RESUMO: Este estudo objetiva identificar como se dá o turismo acessível no município de Tutóia, Maranhão, para pessoas cadeirantes e sinalizar oportunidades e desafios para potencializá-lo. Metodologicamente, a investigação, desenvolvida sob abordagem qualitativa, se caracteriza como exploratória e descritiva, adotando pesquisa bibliográfica e entrevistas semiestruturadas, realizadas entre os meses de janeiro e fevereiro de 2024.As entrevistas foram compostas por tópicos sobre turismo acessível e acessibilidade para cadeirantes em Tutóia/MA. Com aplicação entre os meses de janeiro e fevereiro de 2024. Dessas entrevistas, participaram seis pessoas com distintas atuações no município de Tutóia: dois guias de turismo que atuam nos atrativos, dois empreendedores do ramo turístico, um representante da gestão pública e uma moradora na condição de cadeirante. Resultados apontaram que o município de Tutóia ainda não pode ser considerado como um destino turístico acessível às pessoas cadeirantes. No entanto, há potencial para sê-lo, neste sentido, foram atribuídos alguns desafios principais a serem superados: (i) a falta de (infra)estrutura física, estrutural e arquitetônica de forma geral. Isso se dá, principalmente, pela falta de rampas e o mau estado de ruas e calçadas, dificultando o deslocamento autônomo e seguro de moradores e de turistas cadeirantes; (ii) a falta de acessibilidade nos atrativos turísticos. Apesar de iniciativas pontuais dos guias de turismo atuantes nos atrativos, há grande carência de acessibilidade nesses espaços, comprometendo a mobilidade ou o envolvimento ou a inclusão de pessoas cadeirantes nas dinâmicas de visitação desses espaços; e (iii) a falta de protocolos específicos para atendimento de pessoas cadeirantes nas pousadas do município. Este estudo evidenciou que com investimento em infraestrutura, conscientização e parcerias estratégicas, será possível transformar Tutóia em um destino turístico verdadeiramente adaptado, inclusivo, acolhedor e acessível a todos. Esses dados e informações podem ser utilizadas pela gestão pública do município, para servirem como ponto de partida ou instrumento norteador nas ações necessárias para implementação do turismo acessível em Tutóia/MA. Desse modo, esta pesquisa se realça como fonte de conhecimento (teórico e prático) necessária para potencializar o turismo acessível no município, sendo assim um instrumento de apoio à Gestão Pública, à Secretaria de Turismo e à Associação de Guias de Tutóia.___ABSTRACT This study aims to identify how accessible tourism in the municipality of Tutóia, Maranhão, is for wheelchair users, and to identify opportunities and challenges to enhance it. Methodologically, the research, developed under a qualitative approach, is characterized as exploratory and descriptive, adopting bibliographical research and semi-structured interviews, carried out between the months of January and February 2024.The interviews were composed of topics on accessible tourism and accessibility for wheelchair users in Tutóia/MA. They were conducted between January and February 2024. Six people with different roles in the municipality of Tutóia took part in the interviews: two tour guides who work at the attractions, two tourism entrepreneurs, a representative of the public administration and a wheelchair user. The results showed that the municipality of Tutóia cannot yet be considered an accessible tourist destination for wheelchair users. However, there is potential for it to be so. In this sense, some of the main challenges to be overcome were: (i) the lack of physical, structural and architectural (infrastructure) in general. This is mainly due to the lack of ramps and the poor state of the streets and sidewalks, making it difficult for residents and tourists in wheelchairs to move around independently and safely; (ii) the lack of accessibility at tourist attractions. Despite occasional initiatives by the tour guides working at the attractions, there is a great lack of accessibility in these spaces, compromising mobility or the involvement or inclusion of wheelchair users in the dynamics of visiting these spaces; and (iii) the lack of specific protocols for serving wheelchair users in the town's inns. This study has shown that with investment in infrastructure, awareness and strategic partnerships, it will be possible to transform Tutóia into a truly adapted, inclusive, welcoming and accessible tourist destination. This data and information can be used by the municipality's public management to serve as a starting point or guiding instrument for the actions needed to implement accessible tourism in Tutóia/MA. In this way, this research stands out as a source of knowledge (theoretical and practical) needed to boost accessible tourism in the municipality, thus being an instrument of support for Public Management, the Tourism Department and the Tutóia Guides Association.
